APPLIED STATISTICIAN: THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK-BUFFALO
SUNY at Buffalo's Research Institute on Addictions (RIA), a national 
leader in addictions research, has an opening for an Applied Statistician 
Research Scientist with expertise in advanced statistical analyses (e.g. 
Structural Equation Modeling, Linear Growth Modeling, Hierarchical Linear 
Modeling, Survival Analyses).  THIS POSITION IS NOT DEPENDENT ON GRANT 
FUNDING.  Candidates are required to have a PH.D or be ABD in Statistics, 
or in any Social Science field (e.g. Psychology, Sociology, Economics, 
Epidemiology ) and have practical experience with the application of these 
analytic techniques.  Strong mathematical training and experience in the 
use of these techniques in addictions research are preferred, but not 
required. RANK FOR THIS POSITION IS OPEN AND SALARY WILL BE COMMENSURATE 
WITH EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS.   Responsibilities include consulting 
and working collaboratively with other Research Scientists in the 
development of grant submissions; conducting and/or directing statistical 
analyses of ongoing research projects; and assisting in the development of 
workshops/symposia to advance the statistical expertise of RIA.  RIA is a 
free standing research center within the State University of New York at 
Buffalo, and faculty and/or joint appointments with SUNY-Buffalo 
departments are possible.  Established in 1970, RIA has a staff of over 
175 persons working on over 30 separate research projects.  RIA occupies a 
five-story building, and offers outstanding resources in support of its 
research endeavors.   This position is a State of New York permanent 
Research Scientist line and is subject to New York State Civil Service
