The IMPUTE email discussion group (Imputations in Data Analysis) is
moving to a new computer system. This will require you to change some
procedures for using the list.

Actually, the new list has already been created, at 5:00 p.m. Central
Standard Time (23:00 GMT) on February 11. You should have received an
email from [email protected] with the subject
"Welcome to the 'Impute' mailing list." (I planned to announce the
move when everything was ready, but the welcoming email went out
automatically.)

If you were subscribed to the old list at the time the new list was
created, you are also subscribed to the new list.

Both lists will continue to operate for a brief period of time, after
which the old one will be terminated.

Let me emphasize the distinction between two actions which people
sometimes confuse:

1. TO SEND A MESSAGE TO ALL THE PEOPLE SUBSCRIBED to the list, just
send an e-mail to [email protected] (the same procedure
as for the old list, but the address has changed). This is called
"sending mail to the list," because you send mail to a single address
and the system makes copies for all the people who have subscribed.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND REQUESTS TO SUBSCRIBE, UNSUBSCRIBE, ETC., TO THIS
ADDRESS! See the next item:

2. TO MANAGE SUBSCRIPTIONs (for example, to subscribe, unsubscribe,
change to digest mode, set vacation mode, or change your password)
follow one of the following procedures:

(a) To modify an existing subscription via the Internet, go to the web
site that was listed in your welcoming email. Its URL begins
http://lists.utsouthwestern.edu/mailman/options/impute/ and ends with
personalized information. Simply follow the menu to choose your
options.

(b) To start a new subscription (e.g., your friend wants to join) go to
the general information page listed in your welcoming email,
http://lists.utsouthwestern.edu/mailman/listinfo/impute, and follow the
menu. You should not provide the same password that you use for other
sensitive applications. You will receive an email at the address you
are subscribing, asking you to confirm that you want to subscribe.
(This prevents other persons from subscribing you without your consent.)

(c) To manage subscriptions via email: send an email to the address
listed in your welcoming email,
[email protected], with one word--help--in the
subject or body of the message. You will receive a reply telling you
how to communicate your choices.

If you need help or have questions, problems, or concerns, please
contact me at [email protected].

The list owner,
T. Robert Harris
