I'm using spss version 14 and simply asking it to create a tab deliminated text file from our original data where the system missings have been changed to -99. We've examined the file in a text editor and can't find anything other than the data, tabs, and paragraph markers. We've erased both a few data rows at the beginning of the file and at the end. We've even replaced all of the tab stops with spaces as Norm will import either tab deliminated or space deliminated. If there is anything else in that file that might cause the problem, I can't see where it might be. Jeff
