I don't know about step-by-step, but if you search on "missing" you will 
get a long list of cites and links, including programs for looking at 
the pattern of missing values and a number of imputation (including MI) 
programs.

You might also want to send the question to the Stata listserv (you can 
join at www.stata.com)
