Dear Amelia Users Apologies for any possible cross postings (and shameless self promotion). I wanted to call your attention to the two summer courses taught by me that could be of interest to the members of the list.
July 27-31 - Missing Data - Essex Summer School in Social Science Data Analysis and Collection at the University of Essex, UK The course will contain an in depth overview of both theory and application of item and unit missing data. Following an in depth theoretical overview with application examples practicals will demonstrate weighted estimation techniques for unit nonresponse, multiple imputation and full information maximum likelihood estimation of models with item missing data. More info on this course can be found at: http://www.essex.ac.uk/methods/courses09/2r09.shtm Aug 2-15 - Data Theory - ECPR Summer School in Methods & Techniques at Ljubljana, Slovenia. This course covers practical issues, problems and considerations of empirical research. What do you do when your data is cooperating with the assumptions of statistical modeling: non-independent observations, non-multivariate normal distributions, missing data, etc. The course will cover issues of operationalization, validity and reliability of social scientific constructs. More info on this course can be found at: http://www.essex.ac.uk/ecpr/events/summerschools/ljubljana/courses.aspx If you have questions about either of these, feel free to contact me at: [email protected] Cheers Levi Littvay Assistant Professor Department of Political Science Central European University
