SMTPRCV question

Can anyone remember the usage of the NT workgroup or domain setting with 
respect to SMTPRCV?  I have created a new mailserver and imported all 
the registry settings for SMTPRCV specifically and all other used 
software and it runs fine as long as I keep the 'workgroup' setting the 
same on both servers.  The machine names are different.  However, I 
wanted to join the machine to a different domain and when I do so, all 
attempted incoming messages fom the outside are logged as user invalid 
and will not pass SMTPRCV I am assuming.  As a side note the server is 
set up to receive mail for ~20 different domains.  Is there a tie in of 
the workgroup or domain in SMTPRCV somewhere that I cannot remember?
