1) SMTPRS has no ability to know if an intended address is valid or not, it blindly accepts everything it receives (assuming its for a valid domain).
The primary feature (in my opinion) of SMTPRCV is that it knows what addresses are not valid, and rejects them outright before the message body is even transmitted. So, only SMTPRCV can put those invalid user messages in the log, as only it has that feature. 2) I'm not sure how SMTPRCV by itself would be blocking MyDoom. You would either need a plugin scanning for set text in the Mydoom messages, or an antiviral plugin scanning for infections. In my case, I scan all emails for viruses, exploits, and spam before they get to my IMS server, so MyDoom has never gotten as far as SMTPRCV. -Alan >Has anyone else had the MyDoom worm slip past SMTPRCV but get caught by >AntiRelay plugin and a system virus scanner?
