What plugins are you running in SCSMFilter? I know that TrashFinder can
cause that sort of behavior if it has a lot of filter patterns and you get a
blast of mail. (That's one of the reasons I developed TF Pro). If TF is the
problem, you should be able to find a lot of copies of it running if you
open the processes window in Task Manger (humm, I forget where that is in
NT). Mine were taking up to 40 seconds each (and there was usually five
copies running at a time), so mail delivery could get very sluggish.
I'd suspect that other plugins might have similar effects. For instance, DNS
lookups can be slow, so Antirelay (or SMTPRCV) could be running slow
checking blocklists.
