I do the same thing, but have still had the problem. I know it's strange,
but what I have to do is take the qmail gateway off IMS, restart the
delivery service, usually wait a short time, then put it back on, restart
and it works again. I'm running IMS on an NTSP6 server -- could that be
what's different from yours?

Seen this many times, That's why 4 years ago I set up a qmail MTA that acts
as a gateway for my IMS server. IMS can't be trusted to deliver its own
outbound email to the rest of the 'Net without occasionally jamming up. So I
set up a seperate MTA that IMS sends all its email to, and that MTA is then
responsible for outside deliveries. Haven't had a single problem in the 4+
years I've run this way.
