Yes, that is normal on W2K. Just be sure you don't restart it too quickly or
it will hang and the only thing to do is restart the server. I never had a
problem with this on W2K until I installed version .50 that Klint improved.
However, Klint's version fixed a big problem I was having with what looked
like DoS attacks, so I'm grateful to him for the new version.

I believe Klint was going to post a timing script on his web site to
stop/restart the service.

Subject: IMS on Win2000 server

i have installed the basics for IMS to run on a Win2000 Svr that i have
running some other boring utils. I am hoping to use this box to filter out
some spam before it gets to my real mail server. so it is setup to forward
all of it valid mail over to another IMS server. it seems to work for the
most part, but if try to stop the SMTPRcv or SCSMFILTERPlusE services from
the management MMC, I get an error 997: Overlapped I/O operation.... it
tells me that the service could not be stopped, but the svc does stop and
can be restarted. anyone else seen this? i must have an issue with my
setup, but i don't see it. the old EMWAC IMS utils start and stop without
errors.

thanks
