I am not sure if I can answer this, but will tell you my experience. I have my 2000 server-domain controller, setup as an AD domain, and have my IMSusers group setup as a GLOBAL security group and my Domain Controller Policy giving the GROUP RIGHTS to "Logon Locally" and "Login as a Batch Job". I never had trouble with EMWAC, but have had a hell of a time with my "IIs Web-FTP server", as I had to set the registry to see that domain and not the local machine as security authority.
It would make sense that as long as you have the other domain as trusted, and can add them to your IMSusers group, then the security should work just fine. I would test this by getting the GETUSERS.EXE program (I can send you off-list if you need it), setup your trust, and add one user from the other domain to IMSusers, and see whether GETUSERS shows the new user from the other domain.
