You're memory is faulty. The IMS list went nuts, spewing messages every
second. Many people resigned the list to avoid the spew.
Some of us did other things instead (I created an appropriate TF filter). We
never left, and thus never had to rejoin.
I offered the use of the existing TrashFinder list as an alternative, but no
one has used it for that purpose, and I've since suggested rejoining here
(if you left).

So far as I know, everyone who left the list did so voluntarily; no one was
kicked off. The spew was fixed in a little over 24 hours, and the list has
worked normally since. Of course, the effect is the same; many members
resigned and have not come back.
