I think you would need to use the IP blacklist for that. What local nets
does is as Ted described it: it prevents SMTPRCV from accepting mail from
any IPs other than those listed *unless the mail is addressed to a domain
that the server accepts*. It's intended for determining which IPs should not
be checked for relaying (or, equivalently, which IPs are authorized to send
*outbound* mail). There is no restriction on properly addressed incoming
mail in the relay check -- that is generally a separate filter (such as the
IP Blacklist).
I had to figure all of this stuff out when I was creating TF Gateway.
Indeed, I named it "Outbound Mail Sources" for TF Gateway, since that is its
purpose and I think the purpose is clearer than "Local Nets". (TF Gateway
can use different filtering for Inbound and Outbound mail anyway, so the
distinction is important.)
