I'm still lurking on this list. Still running IMS for my domain (private) e-mail, Exchange for company e-mail, but no longer using IMS as the front end to the company system. I got tired of the maintenance, slew of known issues, lack of more modern standards support and spam that gets through and got a Barracuda Spam Firewall 300 as our front end to both the IMS and Exchange servers now. The Barracuda is worth every penny.
I'm still hosting a update I did to Paul Sica's old website with SCSMfilter and links to the filters - http://www.zaxalon.com/IMS/IMS%20support%20page.htm - at least those filters that appear to still be actively hosted. Unfortunately, even the 0.5.1 SMTPRCV site appears to be gone now. Aside from hosting the site though, AVP is no longer used here and thus no longer under development by me, and as said, I wouldn't use IMS as a front end anymore. Little issues like the fact, for example, that Gmail rejects the entire delivery queue (Sent by SMTPDS) if a single message is over their size limit using ESMTP protocol responses talking with IMS, an SMTP server - the fact that this is an implementation issue on their side and not in IMS itself - is of little relief for those of us that have to deal with managing the email system and one's own users. The entire queue will be bounced back to ALL senders, and then only after three days. This is just one example, but I could give more. -- Eric Helfgott -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Gary Steiner Sent: Friday, April 03, 2009 10:43 AM To: [email protected] Subject: re: IMS on Windows 2008 I'm sure there are a lot of old timers lurking on this list. Still using IMS on 2003, haven't tried it on 2008 yet. -------- Original Message -------- > From: "Guilherme Rudnitzki" <[email protected]> > Sent: Thursday, April 02, 2009 10:32 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: IMS on Windows 2008 > > Hi, All > > I am planing to install IMS on Windows Server 2008. > > Has anybody already tried this? x86 or x64? > > BTW, is this list still alive? > > Best regards to all brave IMS users! > > Guilherme Rudnitzki > São Paulo, Brazil > This is the discussion list for the IMS Free email server software. > To unsubscribe send mailto:[email protected] > > Delivered by MailSite Collaborator > http://www.mailsite.com/ This is the discussion list for the IMS Free email server software.
