Audio/Video chat will not work with other IM Client. For Ex:- If you use Google on iChat and others use GTalk on Windows, You will not have the option for Audio/Video Chat with Gtalk users. Best multiplatform Chat is Skype. Skype works fine for both Audio/Video chat irrespective of OS. Even Yahoo Messenger works fine.
