This happens very often when the formatting pallette goes out of the screen
area.

Various solutions

1/ The solution is to try to change to a lower display resolution in the
system preferences like 800x600 or if possible the higher resolution than
existing.

2/ If this does not work, trash the preferences of excel by deleting the
file called ³com.microsoft.excel.plist which exists in Your Home/Library.
With this Excel rests itself to default settings and your Formatting Palette
is now available
