A warm "Hello" to all members. I am from Kolkata and working for a IT Services company, primarily in Databases and other stuffs. Just joined this group and just a week back bought a macbook pro (13.3") model. This is my first ever macbook and I am throughly enjoying the same. Transitioning from a windows world was not difficult but definitely confusing in the beginning, but I am getting used to everything ... The macbook came with 10.6.7 preloaded and upgraded to 10.6.8 ... Submitted to Apple to get the redemption code for OSX Lion upgrade .. waiting for the same ... Couple of questions... After downloading and before upgrading, i intend to do a bootable burn of OS X Lion on a USB Drive. Having no OS media kind of makes me feel jittery about it.. Have read in articles that the OS X Lion installer deletes itself after upgrade process is complete. So would create the bootable USB before I do the upgrade. 1. As told, I would do an upgrade as opposed to a fresh install, just to see whether everything works fine... *I have the below list of applications installed on my macbook pro and was hoping if anyone can confirm whether these apps after upgrading to Lion would work correctly ..??* 1. Virtual Box 4.1.2 - Installed WinXP SP3, SQL Server 2008 and MS Office 2010 (More on this below) 2. Mac OS for Office 2011 - Beautiful piece of work, but Outlook 2011 not working with Exchange 2003 is a big setback for me.. I installed Entourage but did not like it.. Saw a strange behaviour, if I send some mails from my iPAd, after syncing the Exchange in Entourage, most of the times, the sent mail from iPad shows as junk characters in Entourage's sent items... Also Entourage cannot look up GAL in Exchange 2003 ... So was forced to have Office 2010 on the virtual machine...Kind of sorry feeling, but cannot help, my company is still on Exchange 2003. 3. Adobe Lightroom 3 ( this is must for me...as I am also an amateur Photographer....) 4. X Code 3.2 - This came within the applications DVD (more on this later)... 5. MacKeeper 6. Google Earth 7. NetBeans 7.0.1 8. The Unarchiver 9. MPlayerX 10. Adobe Acrobat Reader X 11. My HP Printer/Copier/Scanner - Driver and Utilities... 12. Mozilla Firefox 6 (Use it all the time...) *XCode 3.2 - Will it work with OS X Lion or I need to immediately upgrade(?)/re-install(?) XCode 4.1???* *Also, my internet connection is decent but not a super fast one, so I would need many hours/few days to download 3.7 GB OSX Lion.. Can i pause/resume the download more often ... In case while downloading, I loose internet connection, will it resume automatically?* *One more small annoyance.. I also got a magic mouse .. which is superb in my opinion .. but the strange thing is when I pair my macbook with my iPhone to tether to iPhone’s 3G connection, my magic mouse frequently loses Bluetooth connection .. moment I stop the pairing, everything is fine … What is the workaround, other than plugging the iPhone through USB and creating a dialer in mac … ?* *Is it worth taking an Apple Care plan ..
