No app will consume any battery when it is not running. Push notifications
can be turned off globally or for individual apps. If an app is not running
and it has push turned off, then it does not in any case consume any
battery. The only thing it takes is some space on your "flash memory" which
is the storage and not the RAM. And no storage ever requires battery to
retain data, if it did your apps would disappear if you restarted the
phone. So relax. Having an app just lying there on the phone does not use
up any battery whatsoever.
