Hi , My brother lost iphone 5 too @ cst station , it gets flicked , we could even track it down to Mumbra the same day it was lost.
We knew some very high level guys in police and even tried putting pressure coz it was imported at higher prices pre launch . The police went with our people and searched all shops in Mumbra area ,the phone showed up second time on track my iphone after a month in a building in Mumbra but despite all tries we could never get it back. I think Deepak's assessment is right they know it can be tracked and they just sell it for parts . So it is just sad ..once lost too tough , though I find apple silly to let the thief switch of the phone once lost mode is activated. I think once lost mode is activated the phone must refuse to turn off even with hard press that way the phone will be traceable .
