Food fight may have been filmed MEN
THE infamous food fight after United's ill-tempered
showdown with Arsenal may have been captured on
camera, it can be revealed today.
The Reds are gathering evidence to present to the FA
inquiry into the tunnel flare-up which followed last
Sunday's stormy match, which United won 2-0.
Reds chief executive David Gill and a team of club
solicitors have spent the week collating evidence from
eye-witnesses to the bust-up which left manager Sir
Alex Ferguson with a suit and shirt splattered with
food thrown by an unnamed Arsenal player.
I understand that video evidence will also be used as
part of the vigorous defence United will mount if they
are summoned before the FA and that the footage will
include X-rated events ON the field last Sunday which
were apparantly missed by match referee Mike Riley and
his two assisants.
It was on video evidence that the FA charged Ruud van
Nistelrooy with serious foul play following his
challenge on Ashley Cole and United immediately
accepted a three-match ban on their Dutch striker
without him attending a disciplinary hearing.
Ferguson and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger remain
tight-lipped about the tunnel incident, but Arsenal's
Brazilian midfielder Edu has today spoken out for the
first time and admitted there was an altercation
between the players.
