Sofia’s Chief Architect: I Will Not Retract Bill on Sofia Town Plan 19 April 2006 | 18:50 | FOCUS News Agency Sofia. After meeting with initiative civil committees for protection of the green areas I understood we can reach a better decision with which both the civil organizations will be happy and the law will be abided by, Sofia’s Chief Architect Petar Dikov told FOCUS News Agency reporter. According to him even though the concerns of the people about the town plan are well-grounded not all of them can be solved. “We must think in the following way – what we want should be seen through the prism of what we can,” Petar Dikov said. “We want a lot of green areas but we can’s afford them because first these territories have to be bought from their real owners and after that build parks,“ Sofia’s Chief Architect said. He also announced that in this year’s budget of Sofia Municipality no money has been allocated for the purchasing of territories and for their turning into green areas. According to him there has been no such financing in the last few years. The Chief Architect said he will not retract the town plan bill he introduced at Council of Ministers despite the people’s dissatisfaction. “If I retract it it would mean to retract it for 10 years,” Petar Dikov was explicit.
