Dear fellow Indians,
We are well and truly aware of the horrible tragedy that has
befallen our beautiful motherland. The skies of Gujarat are covered with
the smoke emanating from the funeral pyres of all those innumerable
innocent poor souls who were caught unaware by the earthquake that struck
them on the Republic Day. Many villagers in Gujarat are now history.
The best we could do at this juncture to alleviate the untold
misery of the people and to restore semblance of normalcy in their lives,
is to pool in our resources and thereby assist the relief measures that
are already in full swing.Our contribution however small it might be would
still serve the cause. Afterall no ocean is complete without a tiny
droplet of water.
Several private and Govt affiliated oraganozations are tirelessly
working in this regard. Money can be paid in cheques or in DD's to these
organizations either directly or through the India Association. Those of
us who have reliable contacts/information from india as to the details
regarding such active organizations may share the same at this common
forum.
May our expression of solidarity infuse a new sense of vigor into
the broken hearts of our dear compatriots back in India.
