If you change the state of the system with manual installation, it is your responsibility. You have been advised not to. --- | I've found the rpm command to be much superior. \-- They are not two different things. yum is a wrapper with rpm. But, yum does checks before installing dependencies, and packages, and hence you are encouraged to use it.
