Hi Soham... i am very sure thats its a reticulated python...the pic of the snake while it was being rescued has been published in the newspaper yesterday. Theres no doubt that it is a retic... if u want i can also post the newspaper pic to this group tomorrow. I m also very much surprised to know that this species has been caught from the plains of Bengal....a very unusual habitat. I dont think its a tamed or pet snake....nobody in my area will dare to keep such a large python as pet...and moreover people here are quite aware of the laws and acts....
The only possibility is that the snake had come here by truck while wooden logs were being brought from Assam or North Bengal...and then grew in size gradually.... i m really confused! waiting for ur reply...regards Shantanu....
