Hi here is one of the deadliest snakes of our country....the Common Krait Pic taken by my friend Mr.Deepak. Specimen: Common Krait : Bungarus caeruleus Colour: Dark Steel-blue, brown or black body with narrow white cross bars. Habitat: Open forests,agricultural fields, human habitation. Habits: Nocturnal, and very active at night, and bites without provocation. At daytime, its docile and hides its head in its coil. Diet: Primarily other snakes....may also eat mice,birds and lizards. Venom: Its highly toxic even more than a Cobra's venom...causing respiratory arrest. Mortality rate in India due to this snake is high....as bare-footed people step on it at night.
