The last time I had looked into its src (December 2005) the (then public) SPARC code had only been a meaningless stumble. And the question back then had been, how much a port of Grub2 to SPARC would actually help in getting new boot code to work, as it primarily depends on how much/less the implementation of Grub code depends on the underlying IEEE1275 firmware. Supporting a new fstype may be doable rather "easily". But adding boot support for additional hardware bus types might be more difficult, if not impossible, except the underlying OBP had been ported first (with Grub2 basically simply building on what OBP already can).
