There is a process to contribute to SFW, though right now I can't find a good summary anywhere on opensolaris.org site. Here is a link to the CCD process, it's about the same so it gives you a good idea: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/companion/contributors/ Join sfwnv-discuss for more details if interested. Unfortunately your 5 minute estimate is a bit off; I'm afraid you'd be looking at more like 6-8 weeks by the time all the paperwork is pushed around.
