Just thought I would post some feedback for they guys doing great work here...

Having suffered from viruses and other 'plagues' on the kids laptops at home I
decided to finally either replace them with Macs or Solaris. After installing
Indiana on the IBM X31 and seeing how easily it just installed and worked...
(just like my MacBook) I decided to install NV b75a, which has a full
compliment of software to see if it would be considered 'cool enough' for one
of the kids to use.

After installing and enabling nwam (svcadm disable
svc:/network/physical:default; svcadm enable nwam) wireless just worked.

Getting printing working was a bit trickier as I had to do a bit of guessing on
how to connect to a Windows shared printer. I suggest someone make this easier
to do as its not clear when adding a Printer whether the dialog is for adding
and sharing a local printer or whether its for connecting to another network
server sharing a printer. Its also not obvious that you have to start the
samba service as well before anything will work (svcadm enable samba). Anyway
that got printing working...

Some complaints from the kids about using StarOffice until it became apparent
that OpenOffice seems to be the standard at school anyway !!

And then came the "where is my MSN ?"... And "thats the end of this idea" I
thought. But scratching around I discovered Pidgin and some more fiddling
later we had it up and running with all the 'buddies' showing up and chat
working just fine. Pidgin does not support 'Nudging' though, whatever that is
!

So all round it seems 'Solaris rocks !'

And then the calls started... 'Dad somethings wrong... all the fonts have gone
funny, oh cool I can change the Themes...' and me starting to think that
viruses might have been easier...

I am away for a month now so we'll see if its all still working when I get
back...

Oh, and anyone know where I can get a copy of Sims 2 for Solaris?
