I agree - it fails the 'Mum/Granny/Dog' test. I'm certainly far from being a usability expert, but my concern with any enhancements (whether expert or otherwise) will start to make the installation experience much more complicated than it needs to be, and at some point in the near distant future, we'll have turned a full circle and end up at the utterly ridiculous installer interface that Caiman replaced. I suspect most system administrators who care will be able to change it themselves post-install, or set up some sort of network install configuration file as part of their system deployment. Would a different option be detecting the changes made in the LiveCD environment, and reflecting them in the final install? Certainly not something we should rush into changing immediately IMHO.
