To add to that. The current microroot size is mainly because of the presence of unused amd64 binaries in the ramdisk. Ideally the 32 and 64 bit microroots should be separate. As Sanjay states there is no connection between CD size and memory usage. BeleniX has a DVD image that still uses only 60MB sized ramdisk.
