I've had this old Dell laptop that, every now and then, I try OpenSolaris on.
I've come close a few times to getting an early version of Solaris 10 running
and Belenix almost worked at one point. However, I've been trying Nevada since
around build 42 without coming even close. Nevada build 76 grub fails to find
the cdrom, but I can list all the files from the grub command line (strange). I
have the latest BIOS available for this machine (2003).

Indiana (Developer Preview) LiveCD runs and installs without complaint (except
for a "run cryptoadm" message on boot). Kudos to all involved.

That said, I have some unexpected quirks and I wanted to know whether I should
report them as bugs or not.

1) I can't su or log in as root. It prompts me for my password (which I set
during install), but it doesn't accept it. Interestingly, I can pfsh to start
a sub-shell, and then su without any password and I'm root! What's that all
about?

2) I can't install OSS4. I don't get any error messages, but it doesn't
install anything. If I try to install it again, it complains about a stale
lock, continues, but repeats the symptoms of the initial install.

3) Shut down complains that I don't have permission. Hitting the power button
starts the shut down as expected. I'm sure I saw a report on this one already.

Then I have a general question. Where are the IPS packages on the web? I
searched the documentation and couldn't find it. I was curious to test that
feature.

Thanks,
Gary
