I think I hit a catch 22. The boot archive is out of sync, so Indiana halts
the boot with a message to boot into safe mode. Then it asks me for a password
for system maintenance.

However, since root is no longer a first-class user I can't log on, and since
Safe Mode isn't available the instructions are wrong.

How do I use the LiveCD to update the boot archive?

Shouldn't all of this be overhauled? It's very misleading to a user.
