Here's a link to the SVR4 package names and descriptions shipped with
Solaris Express Developer Edition. It should provide some guidance for now:
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2398/eezbb?a=view
The info in the table is just extracted from one of the SVR4 pkginfo
fields, but it should give you enough info.

We are graciously thankful for the work to populate the pkg tree.
Nice work one and all! Is there a list available that would allow
an end user to know what SUNWxxx is? As and example I was
looking for an office suite. It might be there but I have no idea as
to the pkg name.
IpsPkgTool will draw out the info and file list but that only functions
if manifest is local. So it fails to help server side.
Good question.
For the description and a few other attributes, we need to add
auxiliary data to the catalog (in a localizable fashion). I filed
http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=243
as a starting point; feel free to augment it with specific requests.
