We tried the greyscale in a previous iteration, but the homepage ended up 
looking pretty dull when you first visit it. I'll pass the feedback up to the 
design team though.

I think it was originally something like 'Discuss', but it didn't seem to blend 
very well with the overall participatory effect of open source, and wanting to 
share more than just their experiences. Long term you might include something 
like blogs, swag store, or others in a 'share' section.

Yes - a lot of the content has yet to be finalized.

I agree - we definitely need to promote multiple download methods (including 
mirrors).
