Just to let you guys know, I have installed it on VMware workstation 6.0.3, and almost everything worked. Here are the glitches and workarounds:
1) Boot takes extremely long time Had to choose Solaris 10 64bit, even when running on non 64bit host, install was fine using 32bit, but when I rebooted, it would not boot. When switch to 64bit, it booted after like 5minutes (I left it idling on the black screen to see what would happen). So I googled and found out a workaround at http://blogs.sun.com/middle/entry/opensolaris_developer_preview_on_vmware, where this guy figured out that $IDADIR needs to be removed from grub's menu.lst. 2) No sound support I am running VMware on Windows XP in a Lenove T61, so pretty much everything is Intel. I was able to make sound work using drivers from http://www.tools.de/opensource/solaris/. I picked up 1.9 beta binaries, as I tried to compile and it didn't work. I installed the Ensonic and Intel drivers (left out VIA drivers). The rest worked just fine, I booted on 800x600, but was able to switch it to 1280x800 just fine. Wireless worked out of the box, so did my bluetooth mouse (not sure if that got abstracted by VMware or not). The only minor complaint I have, is that Pidgin was compiled without libmeanwhile support, so I cannot use OpenSolaris with Lotus Sametime. Other than that, is looks pretty good so far. Keep up the good work!
