I take that back, reboot now has a note on the ;man page stating that it "may" update the boot archive on x86 systems. I would swear it didn't used to have such a note. However, poweroff does not indicate that it will update the boot archive. As I mentioned before, I have never encountered this, and I have updated from build 86 to 95 as well as other builds.
