There are legally licensed media codecs for Window Media audio and
video from the Fluendo webstore available for Solaris and OpenSolaris.

I am working with people from Fluendo and we are hoping to help them
address the problems that are keeping them from supporting MPEG-2,
MPEG-4, and AC-3 codecs for Solaris on their webstore. Hopefully those
will be available soon. Fluendo also has plans for a legal DVD for
Linux and Solaris available by the end of the year. So hopefully some
of these long-standing video/media issues are going to be resolved soon.

Also, it wouldn't surprise me if other 3rd parties (or Sun itself) might
get more involved with making needed media applications available on
Linux and Solaris in the future. So it is good to keep reminding us
that these are important features.
