Just tried ubuntu hardy 32bits. Works perfectly.

Under lshw is listed as NetXtreme BCM5722 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express, [EMAIL
PROTECTED]:02:00.0 with firmware 5722-v3.06 (Dell Unknown device 0225, with
flags bus master, fast devsel, latency 0 and IRQ 219 and memory at d0200000
(64-bit, non-prefetchable, size=64) ) , connected under "pci bridge" named
CK804 PCIE Bridge from nVidia. Just in case it helps.
