I just reported that my Sun Ultra 40 would no longer boot after updating
to '99, with

atapi_start_cmd: drive select failed
WARNING: /[EMAIL PROTECTED],0/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED] (ata0):
    timeout: early timeout: target=0 lun=0

repeating once a minute. Rummaging around on defect.opensolaris.org got
me to

http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=2368
http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6643143

Using the workaround mentioned there, I tried setting

timing_flags=0x1;

in /kernel/drv/ata.conf, and that has given me a working system.

Cheers,

Rob
