Title: E-mail Signature Sun 2006
Hi!

The virtual disk is dynamic. I've enabled audio (AC97) and USB+USB2.0.

Rest is default settings (RAM = 512 MB and dynamic disk).

OK. Well... I decided to try that. I can boot the SNV99 DVD in VirtualBox, but when I launch gui-install it does DVD/CDROM accesses... but nothing happens. I've left it like that for an hour. Still no gui installer on the screen.

I've tried launching pfexec gui-install in a command prompt... no error messages... but still no gui on the screen for installation... strange.

I'll leave it on for another hour before I decide that GUI-INSTALL on b99 CDs/DVDs is broken.

It's run quite successfully on many systems, but we have seen some issues with VirtualBox.  What is the VM configuration?  Is it a new virtual disk (dynamic or static)?

Hi Giles,

Thanks for the reply.  But here is the "catch": I did NOT have problem installing OOO in os0811_99 when it was "image-updated" FROM PREVIOUS BUILDS.

I have problem installing OOO only when the system was a "fresh installation" from the build 99 LiveDVD (i.e., it has not been image-updated).

In other words, as far as build 99 is concerned:

(Fresh Installation from LiveDVD) != (image-update from previous build)

Sun's xVM VirtualBox is really the greatest thing since the sliced bread.  If hard disc space is a concern, you can use a USB HD to install the vdi file.  Please do a fresh install from the build 99 image.  You will discover a few new problems that you would not have seen from image-updates.
