Maybe http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/sw-porters/contributing/
will help answer your question, specifically:
/release <http://pkg.opensolaris.org/release> - contains stable packages
normally updated once every six months after completing the release
process including a final test cycle. Security and other high priority
bug fixes can be made as needed. This is the primary user repository.
I'm not sure how complete the framework is yet, but I believe one of the
original intentions was to provide security updates to the stable
releases (i.e. those based on the /release repository) loosely
paralleling patches for Solaris 10. I believe this may be in place from
the next release onwards, but don't quote me on that - things have a
habit of changing :-)
Hope that helps,
Brian

No one knows the answer? I was told /release is good for production but there
must be some thing that can be done to provide new updates to that???
Or is it simply going from one release to another? (e.g. 2008.11 -> 2009.06)
