According to Brian Cameron, GDM 2.28 integrated into build 130. I think
he might be correct in that all the xdmcp problems started with b130. We're
running snv124 and b124 and I don't think they use GDM 2.28. How can
you tell?

At some point (probably when GNOME 2.28 integrated into nv_124), GNOME
took over control of the X bell and started playing it through GNOME
sound themes instead.

Since GDM 2.28 will integrate into build 130, I recommend we see if the new
version of GDM works better. If it exhibits the same problem, then it will
make sense to look into the problem further.
