Funny you say this... We provide wireless service to the Indiana State
Museum, and provide managed wireless services in their facility. I am
not sure what the budget is, and if there are government officials,
there may be pull to get a discounted rate. Each of the rooms that are
there have a different capacity from 10 people to hundreds (Great Hall).
It has a great backdrop of the canal there. If we are bringing vendors
and Federal reps, that may be a great venue.

Beyond educating us, I think educating the legislators is even more
valuable.

If you can get a venue that ORI or another WISP can service, then we
demo how fast and low latency fixed wireless can be and discuss the
speed and cost of deployment compared to wireline that might really
stick when the Telcos and Cablecos are lobbying them for more money. We
should also be transparent about the limitations and the 3-5 year
upgrade cycle when compared to wireline (especially FTTx). I think the
honesty would be welcome. Fiber isn't the only answer, but neither is
wireless. A blend is the best solution when needs vs wants and cost is
analyzed.

Maybe Claude or Ari could help get some of our US-reps, Senators, or FCC
commissioners to the event with either their charm, or a donation from
WISPac.

Short session idea,

What does an IX do? How does it help me?

Folks,
We are putting together an Indiana meeting again this year. The
tentative date is May 16th with an Indy 500 Track afternoon again. We
need some committee members to help with topics and speakers. A few
things that have been tossed around:

-Location. We are looking to expand to a bigger spade this year. This
will allow more vendors and conversations to carry on between folks.
There are couple of venues being pursued. We are looking at a venue
closer to the Track than last year.

-Since we are keeping with the track afternoon, a couple of ideas being
tossed around in regards to sessions. We want to shorten some of the
sessions. Thoughts? One of the ideas was have several 15-20 minute
sessions with a 10 minute break between each for time to talk to each
other. This allows for some question and answer after each session.

Some topics
-Collaboration opportunities.
-Legislation and funding updates
