T.K Farooq ----------------------------------------------- Dear All, It is my pleasure to share some information about Islamic Banking in India (as well as Kerala) I am proud to say there was a initiative from JIH kerala to start a Islamic bank in Kerala but unfortunately RBI denied the request by saying that as per the current rules and regulations RGI cant approve an interest-free Banking. But they allowed JIH to start financial company. AICL - Cochin was the result of this discussion. Now AICl is giving loan (up to crores) in profit and loss basis. I am also take pleasure of saying that, currently there are 13 solid applications in front of RBI to start an Islamic Bank all over India. And now there are some banks giving facility of Islamic-Counters in their banks. Personally I am not supporting this kind of gimmicks. Coz these counters are saving these interest based banks to not loose their costumers. They are not willing to fully fledged interest free banking. As you may aware, JIH is currently started nation wide silent campaign (top level seminars) to make total awareness and public support in this subject. Let all to start thinking and contribute to propagate Islamic Banking. We expect, Other Muslim leaders will not speak against this also because JIH started the subject in India!!!.
