Hello,
In monocots the petal like structure is perianth and a single member of
perianth is called tepal. Just like petal of corolla and sepal of calyx.
Perianth is not differentiated into calyx and corolla. It is the characteristic
feature of monocots. Which is seen in your Glory lily that is Gloriosa superba
flower too.
And the color of the tepals go on changing as the flower matures from yellow
red to red.

hi ,
this is the first time i have seen a Gloriosa superba in a complete red
colour... is this common for this plant? [the complete red colour i mean, for i
have seen it half red and half yellow] also what is that part called? are they
the petals or the sepals or is there another term for that part of the plant?

regards,

vishnu
