About a decade back I was driving from Puri to Bhubaneswar to Vizag ( I hope I remember correctly). On the way there is the beautiful beach of Gopalpur-on-Sea which has the first Oberoi Hotel. For a stretch there was a beautiful Marine Road, running along the sea. It is picture perfect but for the fact that between the road and the sea there is casuarina plantation, fuly covering the majestic view. Orissa is the place where Olive Ridley turtles nest. I frankly don't know whether this seaside casuarina plantation has hurt their nesting sites. At that time people were not much aware of Oliver Ridly Sea turtles and their nesting sites in Gahiramatha etc. akbhatt
