Samir, you seem to have cracked the nut yourself. After seeing the '
flowersofindia ' site, I am sure it was Jhand in your original pix.. Photo
comparisons are similar.

Ken, I was able to find it on only following site

Haematoxylum campechianum (Logwood).

http://www.scrd.net/scrd_new/francais/textile_hematine.htm

I found photo of Jhand, but it might be difficult to indentify by this photo

Samir--

You may want to check online for information, pics of Haematoxylum
campechianum (Logwood). It is a South American species that has been grown for
lumber, perhaps in your area? It is a plant that can volunteer where adapted.
Wood is extremely dense. Tree is spiny.

Janaki, Anand, Ken, thank you so much for your reply and information.

This is photo of leaves which I have right now though its not good photo. I
attached photo of Gall also(I think it might not be fruite)

I find similar photo in "Trees of Delhi". It shows Prosopis cineraria(no
english common name and jhand, jat, chaukra, sangri, khar, sheh, shami, kanda, khejdi
are shown as indian name in the book). Flower and leaves looks same as Prosopis
juliflora, but shape of spine looks is similar which is different from
juliflora as Ken pointed out.

But I have not been able to find good photo on web so far.
