Vinca roseus is syn. Catharanthus roseus- periwinkle may be of different vars.Alkaloids vincristine, vinblastine are obtained from roots, a drug used in Cancer. Extensively cultivated for the drug. Different coloured periwinkles are used in floriculture, but colours do not breed true.Wild plants love sandy soil, endangered due to loss of habitat, and for its medicinal use.
