Vallarai is a very easy herb to plant in pots and garden corners and it grows excellently well if watered regularly
Have at home in many pots and it keeps spreading around..... In places where you need more moisture, the idea that i employ is use the green throwaway sponge that is used in flower vases and flower arrangements, cut them into pieces and strew them around the pots.....when u water the plant, the sponge absorbs the water and retains it for a long time thus keeping the area moist Ravi ----------------------------- Ravi Vaidyanathan Mobile : 99877 77349 http://chakramhikers.com http://sites.google.com/site/ravivaidy/ http://picasaweb.google.com/ravi.vaidyanathan ----------------------------- 2009/5/22 Stephen A <[email protected]> > It is called Vallarai in Tamil and acts as a Rejuvenator. > The following links might be useful. > > http://www.ayurvedictalk.com/vallarai-herb-to-maintain-youthful-vigour-and-strength/627/ > http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/mag/2002/08/04/stories/2002080400450700.htm > http://www.ammas.com/ar/home.cfm?r=va&bid=0&topicid=2&tid=105002 > http://www.homeremedy.in/English/plant_profile.php?id=497 > > http://www.motherherbs.com/cgi/prd-search-new.pl?ss=centella&modid=PCAT&tpl=42005&pcid=42005 > > Regards, > > > Stephen... > > On Thu, May 21, 2009 at 7:59 PM, satish phadke <[email protected]>wrote: > >> Yes I was talking about Mandukparni(*Centella asiatica)* which is quite >> commonly called as Brahmi in Marathi. >> Satish >> >> 2009/5/21 Swagat <[email protected]> >> >>> Dear Satishji, >>> >>> Are you talking about *Centella asiatica (Linn). *or* Hydrocotyle >>> asiatica (Linn) *which is known as 'Kaarivana' *'कारिवणा'*, >>> 'Mahaushadhi' *'महौषधी'* किंवा 'Ekparni' *'एकपर्णी'* in Marathi, >>> 'Mandukparni' *'मंडूकपर्णी' *in Sanskrit and 'Brahmamanduki' * >>> 'ब्रम्हमंडुकी'* in Hindi and *'Pennywort'* or *'Thick Leved Pennywort'*in >>> English. >>> >>> Regards, >>> >>> ~Swagat >>> 9223217568 >>> >>> 2009/5/19 satish phadke <[email protected]> >>> >>>> Nice pictures Sureshji Suresh ji >>>> Adding my photographs of Bacopa monnieri from family Scrophulariaceae. >>>> This plant is the true medicinal Brahmi.
