For instance, Dr C S Lattoo, who heads the ‘Taxonomy’ course, takes his students to several nature spots in Mumbai, such as Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP), Byculla Zoo and such. Says Lattoo, “Subjects such as ‘Taxonomy’ cannot be taught merely sitting in a classroom. We show our students live specimens of what they’re studying.
